- We do NOT follow win with someone.

- Germany didn’t win the the semi-finals, but they won third place.
- Who won the game last night?
- She’s an excellent tennis player. She always wins!
- To earn a prize
- He won the lottery!
- What prize did you win?
- I didn’t win anything – I just got all the right answers.
Win as a noun
- an event where someone wins something
- Spain beat France for the Eurobasket win.
- They’ve had only four wins since the beginning of the season.
- How many wins have they had so far this year?
- They haven’t had any wins yet.
