Turn a blind eye. Now more than ever, we cannot be turning a blind eye to what is happening around us. The world is changing quickly, so I feel like this is an expression that is very relevant right now. If someone is blind, they cannot see, so if you look at something or someone with an eye that is blind, you do not see it.
TURN A BLIND EYE
- to pretend to not see something you know is wrong.
- to deliberately ignore something or someone.
- Society tends to turn a blind eye to the poor and homeless.
- If we see something wrong, we must not turn a bl1nd eye. We must speak up about it.
- Note that the expression is always followed by ‘to’
- Management should not turn a blind eye to those who are unhappy.
