Why do I want to teach you the expression: Line someone’s pockets? Because the news lately is full of people lining their pockets. So, instead of openly saying I think someone is currupt or using their position for personal gain, use this expression.
LINE SOMEONE’S POCKETS
- Expression used to say that someone is privately profitting from a business deal
- It can refer to just about any situation where someone is making money in a dishonest way
- He is clearly taking advantage of his position of power to line his own pockets.
- Politicians shouldn’t be allowed to line their pockets while representing their governments.
- The company has been accused of lining their pockets.
