Now that we are all finishing our vacations and going back to school or work, Hit the ground running sounded like the best expression to teach today. Usually we use this expression when we are starting something new, but it can also be used for those of us who are going back to the same job.
HIT THE GROUND RUNNING
- To immediately start working hard at something
- To not have time to slowly learn something
- I started a new job yesterday and I was expecting some training, but instead I had to hit the ground running.
- In September I hit the ground running and now I can’t even remember my vacation.
