‘Cuz
- A very common and informal way to say ‘because’

- She’s late ‘cuz‘ her car broke down.
Game changer
- Something that has such a great impact on a situation that it changes the way the situation will develop.
- The change can be either positive or negative
- If he decided to leave the company, it will be a game changer.
- We need a real game changer if we want to be competitive.
Underlying
- something that is true but may be obvious from the beginning.
- I left the company because I didn’t get the raise I asked for, but the underlying problem is that I wasn’t happy there.
- It’s clear that social media is impacting our children’s lives, but the underlying question remains: ‘Do we spend enough time with them?’
Hallow out
- to remoce the inside of something
- We hallowed out the pumpkins for Halloween.
- In this podcast, Annie uses hallowed-out to talk about someone who has gotten plastic surgery on their face to make it seem as though they are skinnier than they really are.
- I really don’t like the hallowed out look that makes people seen malnurished.
Turn something around
- To make a company, business or economical situation or plan go from being unsuccessful to being successful.
- After the pandemic we were in the red, but now we’ve really turned things around.
- We were losing by 20 points, but the team has really turned things around this quarter.
