English expression: Under the weather. We use this experssion a lot to say that you aren’t feeling your best. This could be because you are feeling like you may be getting a cold or because you feel tired or even a bit down because it’s cold outside and you don’t feel like leaving your bed. As you can see, it is a very versatile expression!
UNDER THE WEATHER
- To not feel well
- to feel sad or down
- Linda called to say that she will not be coming for dinner. Apparently she’s a bit under the weather.
- These short winter days really make me feel under the weather.
