Business English: overtime

Business English: overtime

Business English: overtime. Is working overtime seen as a norm in your culture or in your generation? These are just some of the things that Annie and Clare discuss in the podcast episode: same ole generation clash.

  • The extra time someone works outside of their work timetable.
  • If your schedule says that you work 8 hours but you work 10, you have 2 hours of overtime.
    • It is quite common for construction workers in the US to get paid overtime if they work on the weekends or evenings.
    • On the other hand, many office jobs work unpaid overtime and it is considered to be included in your salary.
    • Younger generations who are looking for more work-life balance are saying no to overtime all together as they value their free time.
