B2 C1 C2 English Vocabulary: Procrastinate. At University, I was a procrastinator. I had a 10-page paper due the next morning and I started writing it at 10pm. As I got older I procrastinated less and less. Now, procrastination is a thing of the past.

Procrastinate

  • Verb
  • To wait a long time to do something that you know needs to be done.
  • Usually it is something unpleasant so you are avoiding doing it.
    • I know I need to talk to them at some point – I’m procrastinating.
    • She procrastinates all the time when she has to clean the bathroom. She hates doing it.

Procrastinator

  • Noun
  • The person who procrastinates
    • He’s such a procrastinator because he’s always leaving everything for the last minute.
    • I could never be a procrastinator because I like to get things done as soon as possible.

Procrastination

  • Noun
  • The act of delaying something that needs to be done
  • Usually because it is something you don’t like or is boring
    • We don’t have any time left for procrastination because they need a decision now.
    • Some people say that procrastination can lead to creativity.
